Every Hard-Krome pipe is designed to not only fit great on your bike, but look great too. Extra steps are taken in the manufacturing process of our True Doublewall design to make sure that fit and finish is perfect. We don’t make any compromises in the way we build our pipes, because you don’t make any compromises.

But we’re more than just another pretty pipe. Hard-Krome pipes really perform! The midrange performance on your bike suddenly picks up so you can smoke everybody else. Only Hard-Krome pipes perform as good as they look!

RES-TECH™ 3” Drags. New for 2007! RES-TECH exhaust systems feature large 3" diameter mufflers constructed with Hard-Krome's RES-TECH (Reduced Exhaust Sound TECHnology) patent pending. Using RES-TECH muffler cartridges to reduce exhaust sound to an acceptable level, they maintain good aftermarket performance. RES-TECH’s are our lowest sound exhaust systems.

A new industry standard! By using a large volume, extra long design with multiple layers, Hard-Krome’s RES-TECH 3” Drag Pipes with “Reduced Exhaust Sound TEChnology” are able keep sound levels lower. RES-TECH™ muffler cartridges were developed from Hard-Krome's unwavering passion to create the lowest / highest ratio exhaust systems in the motorcycle industry. RES-TECH muffler cartridge systems reduce both high frequency and low frequency sound waves. RES-TECH cartridges were to be superior to all others.


Our mission was to invent a muffler system that had the lowest sound yet retained the highest power in every measurable facet of performance. The end result of our work had to be clearly observable as better than any muffler system used in the past, by motorcycle riders around the world. Our R&D team genuinely exceeded our goals. We honestly feel that this is the best muffler system on the market today.

How are they different? RES-TECH™ cartridges are different from other motorcycle muffler systems on the market. Until now most V-twin exhaust systems on the market use a plain spiral louvered core, about 8" to 10" long, with no other silencing method. This spiral louvered core is installed into a very small low volume pipe. This style of muffler only helps reduce exhaust sound by a very limited amount. Most of these pipes range from LOUD to ANNOYING!


What is a RES-TECH™ cartridge? First, we use the largest diameter muffler body on the market. Next, we use the absolutely longest muffler possible. However using a large volume muffler is only the first step. The RES-TECH™ cartridge is about 3 times longer than most contemporary mufflers.


We then thoroughly tested all of the louvered baffle and perforated core designs available. We went with the lowest sound/ highest power ratio combination that we could find. Then we use, multiple layers of several sound absorbing materials, tightly wrapped around the RES-TECH™ core and compressed into a lightweight extremely thin wall tube. Finally we seal the unit together. This is the "cartridge".

The New Boost Port

Hard Krome has developed a new cross-over port system called the BOOST PORT. This cross-over port connects the two dual exhaust pipes together. This increases power significantly due to the benefits of improved exhaust scavenging and charging. You experience the same power gain that you would get from a 2-1 exhaust pipe, but with the good looks of a dual exhaust system.


Hard Krome pipes with Boost Ports are available on some M109R, Roadliner and Stratoliner pipes. Look for the Boost Port logo.

Vortaxx systems use a Res-Tech muffler cartridge to reduce sound to an acceptable level while still maintaining good after market performance. Vortaxx exhaust systems are our lowest sound exhaust systems.

The Black Star finish is an extremely hard ceramic coating. It is a semi gloss black color that withstood surface temperature up to 1100F. It is a baked on coating that is solvent and gasoline resistant.


These pipes are identical to the 3" Chrome Res-Techs other than the black ceramic finish and the black contrast billet end caps. They feature our Reduced Exhaust Sound Technology..
